I Like Lists
Dec. 17th, 2011 07:48 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
So, I'm bored what with exams over and such so I decided, why not make a list or two (or ten). Over the next little bit I'm going to be posting some lists in regards to various fandoms and such I'm in. You don't have to read them, obviously, but if you want to know my super serious opinions on things, go ahead.
Today, we'll be looking at Glee. Specifically at the music of Glee. This, is my Top 20 Favourite Glee Songs!
PS. I was watching Christmas movies while writing the list so some of it may not make much sense because my attention was elsewhere.
20.

During the Glee Project, I really wasn't a fan of Lindsay's. I was more of a Marissa girl myself (she was robbed, by the way). But damn this girl can sing. She completely owned this song and the mp3 is definitely one I never skip. The scene is just as good, and I've found that it's probably the only song scene in the Purple Piano Project that is just as good the second time around as the first. Harmony is just the right amount of crazy to be both intimidating and kind of awesome. You don't root for her (because, of course, she's messing with our King and Queen) but you sort of want to. Her performance is just...yeah, I love it.
19.

As a Klaine fan, people probably think I hated Comeback. I didn't. Sure, the whole Sue plotline was contrived and pointless, but there was plenty of Sam to keep me happy and I almost forgot Kurt and Blaine were missing. This song was just the icing on a really good cake. This song is what Glee should be about. It's about music and how you can use music to show people who you are and what you're all about. It's the perfect anthem for New Directions and I was seriously disappointed when they were forced to sing...other things at Regionals (my God, Loser Like Me was bad).
18.

I have said it before and I'll probably end up saying at least twenty more times. This scene is cuter than newborn puppies. I know it was just a rehearsal, but my god these two are so flirty together. It's so mesmerizing to watch them play off of each other in such a way, even now. I know that what with them being boyfriends and in love and such I should probably move on from this scene, but I don't think I'm ever going to get over how their voices meld together so flawlessly or how they dance around each other. It's two minutes of pure bliss.
17.

My. Brittana. Creys. So, I love Brittany and Santana and I have for pretty much ever. When Santana came out to her in Sexy, well I was a sobbing mess to say the least. But as great as Sexy was and as much as I liked Landslide (although there was too much Gwyneth Paltrow), I love this song about ten times more. Just the idea of Santana standing in a room and bearing her soul to Brittany and Brittany alone is just...oh my god it gives me so many feelings. I don't think her voice has ever sounded more pure than it does here and the emotions she feels really shine through. It's just, breathtakingly beautiful.
16.

So, I don't think I need to explain how amazing this song is. It's considered one of Glee's best and the definite favourite song in the third season. I do, however, think I need to say why it's so low. I'm about to make a confession to you lovely people. I like this song, but that's it. I don't think it's the best thing to ever be, it doesn't give me eargasms and I don't want to bear its children. Everyone on it sounds amazing, but it just doesn't do it for me the way it does for others. Please don't hate on me. :)
15.

I'm expecting hate for this too. Yes, boys and girls I like the Hall and Oates mahup more than the Adele one. It's just...do you guys see this? The boys are wearing pornstaches! They're all dancing and having fun! It just makes me so happy. When the mp3 comes on, I seriously just start dancing regardless of where I am. Plus, Tina sings. Sure, it isn't a major part, but she gets to be front and center! :D
14.

I didn't really like Funeral as an episode. It seemed as if they did this episode just to give Jane Lynch Emmy fodder. The other songs were good, but rather pointless (seriously, they were just put in there to have more songs on iTunes). However, regardless of its flaws, this song redeems the entire episode for me. My inner Willy Wonka loving self just gets all warm and fuzzy the minute I hear those first few chords. Plus, look at who sings it. Kurt basically pwns all in this song and so does Tina. Really, those two should sing all of the songs ever. I would not be opposed.
13.

I love Hairspray. When I found out they were doing this song, my reaction was basically flailing and squealing. Glee didn't disappoint. Sure, I wasn't initially sold on the slow opening, but it grew on me. The rest of the song is just a giant burst of fun. I mean, look at these badasses. Running around in purple (the best colour ever, just saying) having fun and stuff. This is another song that pretty much is what Glee's about. Even when things are hard, if you have a song in your heart, no one can bring you down. <3
12.

(I love the Daltonified covers, you guys.) My inner Klainer is showing through, you guys. This was the first Glee song I ever downloaded and it was the scene that gave me intense love for not just Klaine as a pairing but for both Kurt and Blaine as individual characters. I mean, half of the fun in this scene is watching how the two of them look at each other. The other half is, of course, getting caught up in the Warbler's amazing harmonies. I love these boys like crazy and I love Dalton too. Basically this whole thing is just magical.
11.

So, this is a weird choice and I know it. Most people (even hardcore Warbler stans) hate this song for how completely pointless it was. I understand that, this scene was super unnecessary and did nothing to advance the plot. That's the only reason it didn't rank higher, actually. I am absolutely in love with this performance. There's all these preppy, private school boys who usually can't do more than side step but here they are, doing flips and trying to be G while singing Beyonce. It never fails to make me giggle because, really, who doesn't squeal when there's boys doing flips and jumping on couches in front of you?
10.

Kurt's voice is a flawless. No lie. I could listen to him sing forever. And he sings this song amazingly. His voice just soars and takes you on this crazy emotional journey. It gives me all the feelings, for serious. The only reason it isn't as high as some of the others is because the scene was really long. I mean, him walking across the stage and stuff...why was that moment necessary? With that being said, the scene does have some awesome moments. Every time we get to see Kurt's expression at finally being home...I just get all happy inside. All the warm fuzzies are belonging to this song.
09.

I wasn't expecting to like this song as much as I did. I figured ABC, or hell even We Are Young would trump it. Then I listened to the 3.08 songs again. This song...it just works so well. All of the guys (well, all of them except Kurt, but we won't talk about that here) get a chance to sing and it allows us to hear some interesting vocal combinations that actually turn out to sound really good. I only wish they would have had some of the second verse on the show because it's my favourite part, but on the whole both the full version and the show version are boss.
08.

I swear I didn't put this one on simply for Klaine-ish reasons. I was actually so excited when I heard Kurt was singing this song because it's my favourite Beatles song and, well, I think I've made my feelings about Kurt very clear. This song was basically a dream come true for me. Then there's the scene. Kurt is just so...open in a way we hadn't seen in months. It was beautiful to watch. Plus, you know, Blaine figured out his feelings and everything was glorious and amazing forevermore. <3
07.

Bet you were wondering if there was going to be any season one on here, huh? Well, here's some. Defying Gravity was actually the first Glee song I ever heard. All of my friends who watched Glee in season one had the Kurt solo version and...well they played it a lot. I didn't really get the love until I actually watched the episode. The plotline this song connects to is awesome and really shows the strength Glee used to have in its early days. (It's actually kind of depressing to watch because...where did that strength go?) I love all versions of this song but I think my favourite is actually the duet version because, seriously, these two should sing together always, just saying.
06.

It's no secret that I ship the hell out of St. Berry. This song is basically all of the reasons why. Here's Rachel, the star that she is, meeting a guy who can keep up with her musically and who has similar dreams and interests to her. And he woos her by singing a duet with her at a music store. That's like, the perfect way to woo Rachel Berry. These two just have an instant connection that can't be ignored. I will admit, when I first saw this scene I must of rewound it at least a hundred times. No shame.
05.

Look at this onslaught of season one songs! Anyway, I love Tina. Sure, she doesn't do much most of the time, but when she does it's awesome. This song, just like all of her other moments, is fantastic. Her voice is just so pure and bright and I love how she sings the song. Then there's the performance. On the surface it doesn't seem like much, but I kind of think that's the point. New Directions is figuring out they don't need fancy bells and whistles to be unique. They just need to be them. (This is a message that has since been lost, unfortunately). It's beautiful.
04.

What's this? A Finn song in my top five? That's right people. I am madly in love with a Finn song. Now usually I hate the guy (as most of you know), but I loved him in Born This Way. He was so into the whole self acceptance idea. This song, although I believe it would have suited a different character's story better, was very well done. His voice works very well with the jazzy sort of style. I really wish Finn would have stuck with the message of the song. The scene wasn't really anything exciting, but it doesn't need to be. Plus, it did have Mike Chang dancing which is an added bonus.
03.

They sing this. To each other. In the car. Oh my god. This song IS basically on here for Klaine purposes, I'm not even going to deny it. The first fanvid I ever saw in this fandom was a Klaine vid set to this song and ever since I've wanted them to sing it. It definitely didn't disappoint. The song is split really evenly so you get a good mix of both Kurt and Blaine. It's equal, like their relationship. Plus, this is a good song to be singing to Santana. It isn't about girls having fun or about experimentation, it's about how she's perfect exactly as she is. This situation it something both Kurt and Blaine can relate to and to sing this song to her was a very nice gesture. I loved it.
02.

Dear lord, Kurt and Rachel are flawless. This song just solidified how much I love both of them and how much I adore their friendship. They are Elphaba and Glinda. They are best friends. They are stars. This version of the song is just...it gives me life, you guys. Both the scene and the mp3 just show how spectacular both of these kids are and how they're both destined to be super famous, NYADA be damned.
01.

If anyone doubted my number one would be a Warbler's song, they obviously don't know me very well. I love those boys and their delectable harmonies. I remember before Regionals a bunch of people thought it would be awesome if the Warblers and New Directions joined forces and became an indestructible super team. This song is the only one that shows what that would've been like and I seriously want more. That part when everyone joins in always gives me chills. This is the wall of sound Rachel talked about in the season two opener. Not to mention the scene itself makes me cry, what with everyone hugging Kurt. I just want Kurt to have love, okay? All in all, this song is flawless and completely deserving of my number one spot.

Date: 2011-12-26 05:37 am (UTC)It's going to take me a few days to come up with my list though...since I just tried thinking about it and got into an arguement with myself and that always means that it's going to be difficult to come up with.
